Internship - National Geographic Traveler Photo

National Geographic Traveler Magazine is seeking an intern to assist with photo research and administrative office projects. Duties also include routing photography materials, learning the insides of magazine production and conducting photo research on future story assignments. Interns will gain an understanding of the way the photo, design and editorial departments work together to produce the magazine.

Internship Responsibilities
  • Provide some administrative support for the department staff. These duties could include typing, filing, photocopying, organizing, mailing and tracking packages.
  • Assist with cataloguing, organizing, tracking and returning all stock photo submissions.
  • Assist with the annual Traveler photography contest.
  • Assist with some background and stock photo research on future story assignments.
Minimum Education & Experience
Intern must be working towards a college degree. Previous photo editing experience through former internships, college courses and/or work on school publications. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, acute attention to detail and the ability to work independently as required. Demonstrates a love of the outdoors and travel a plus.
Additional Important Info.
The Photo Internship is offered during the spring (January through May), summer (late May through August) and fall (September through December) semesters, to coincide with university schedules. School credit must be obtained for this internship, and there is no pay (except, of course, for the invaluable experience!). Please ask your internship coordinator to verify that this internship would qualify for credit hours. The internship is classified as full-time (40 hours per week).
